About the scheme

Heart of the Community is an initiative, run by Lakeside, that aims to give something back to the local community through donations to charities and organisations that support and care for Essex residents. Lakeside Shopping Centre's Heart of the Community campaign is our commitment to shoppers and local residents, to recognise and reward deserving charitable causes in the local community.

Members of the local community are invited to nominate worthy charities that could benefit from a £500 donation.  From a new garden bench for a charity's garden, to new toys for a hospice, or even man-power for painting a room in a care home - all suggestions were welcome.

Lakeside will choose two charities every month* from the nominations and reward them with a £500 contribution towards a specific project or piece of equipment that the charity requires.
