Pull Off The Look For Autumn/Winter 2007
It’s that time again. Summer is almost over, the days are drawing in and the temperature is dropping - so what could be better than to look towards the trends for Autumn/Winter to ensure you start the season in style? This season brings with it strong colours, elegant designs and big knits - perfect for Wintery days! There are a number of fabulous ways to wrap up, and to get you excited about the fantastic new fashions, Lakeside’s Personal Shopper, Angela Poplett, is here to give her expert advice on how to pull off this season’s key looks.
Colour blind…
Ladies, be sure to make a statement this coming season and brighten up your wardrobe with a burst of bold colour! Don’t be afraid to use strong colours such as red, blue, green and purple, which are really in this Autumn/Winter. Try dressing in predominantly one colour to achieve this season’s ultimate look. Patent items are also in and there is no better way to achieve the ultimate look than with Topshop’s red patent mac. Be careful, however, to choose the colour that best suits your skin tone to prevent draining your natural colour.
Shorts are not just for Summer…
Shorts were a big hit again this Summer, and the trend continues into the new season. For the more daring, ‘short’ shorts are a key trend and look great with a pair of opaque tights to achieve a look straight off the international catwalks – enough to get any fashionista jealous! Debenhams at Lakeside has a great selection of shorts which are perfect for the office as well as for weekends, especially when worn with a pair of ballet pumps. For a fab evening look, try Dorothy Perkins glittery shorts with a pair of killer heels – a glamorous way to show off your legs in the Wintery months!
Nip Tuck
This season it’s all about emphasising the waistline - for best results use a thin belt to clinch your waist in and show off your curves. Warehouse at Lakeside has a great range to suit all tastes. Skirt suits reminiscent of the classic 1940’s look are also set to be extremely popular this season. A great way to start achieving this 40’s look is with a pencil skirt that perfectly flatters a more pear-shaped figure. Another way to get this totally feminine look is with a slim-fitting winter coat, a simple and quick way to help flatter your figure irrespective of your size. Wallis has a great collection of coloured coats this Autumn, in this season’s ‘in’ lengths, where hem lines drop below the knee. For those with a fuller figure try a boxed jacket to help give the illusion of a slimmer waist.
Scarf Face…
Make sure you complete your Autumn/Winter look with a large scarf. Fresh off the catwalk they bring an element of practicality as well as style to all fashion fans! Head to Principles at Lakeside and drape one of its outsized scarves around you to achieve one of this season’s main looks. A big chunky scarf will add texture and detail to any outfit.
