Look Wedding Wonderful!
There’s something extra special about a wedding – friends and family gathered together to celebrate a happy occasion. Often we’ll see people we haven’t seen for years so it’s only natural to want to go that extra mile to find a stunning new outfit. Lakeside’s annual Wedding Fair takes place on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 February and is the place to find out what’s hot for weddings in 2008. Lakeside’s Personal Shopper, Angela Poplett, will also be there to provide style advice for all future brides, grooms and guests – here she offers guests her expert advice on finding the perfect outfit to suit your body shape.
Pear-shaped ladies should go for an empire line top that pulls in just below the breast to emphasise their smaller top half. A tunic blouse teamed with wide leg trousers is perfect, Topshop at Lakeside has a beautiful empire line dress that will dazzle at any wedding.
High-waisted skirts and trousers look stunning on the hour glass figure and are still very on-trend for 2008. If you’re a bit nervous about the high-waisted look, go for a cinched waist belt over a pretty blouse or jacket and team it with a neckerchief to complete the look. River Island at Lakeside has a fantastic range of high-waisted skirts while New Look’s navy high-waisted trousers are a must-have-buy.
Top heavy women should steer clear of anything too wide or too narrow on their lower half – too wide doesn’t show any shape and too narrow will make their top half look even heavier. Go for an outfit that skims the bottom half like a pencil skirt from wallis with a plunging v-neck cardigan and camisole top – a deep v is perfect as it won’t make the shoulders look too wide.
If you’re tiny in the chest with slender arms pick a high-neck top with cut away arms to emphasise your slim frame. Coast at Lakeside has some pretty high-neck tops – with concessions in Debenhams and House of Fraser as well as a stand alone store it’s a great place to start your search for the perfect wedding outfit. House of Fraser also has a beautiful cream chiffon high neck top.
Ladies with straight up and down figures are particularly lucky as anything suits them, apart from cinched waists. If you have no weight on your legs you’ll look wonderful in a slim garment with a cocoon shaped top – a key trend for 2007 that’s carried over into the new season. Primark has a fab selection of little cocoon jackets that are great for a spring wedding.
Finally, if you have a bit of a tummy a wraparound dress is great at hiding your lumps and bumps. Phase Eight on Brompton Walk has a lovely range of wraparound dresses in geometric prints that will make you stand out from the crowd!
What wedding outfit would be complete without some stunning accessories to finish off your look? You don’t want your handbag to take over your outfit so go for a small clutch bag – Accessorize Boutique has some really pretty ones that are perfect for weddings. Hats are also a great way to finish off your look so head to Debenhams at Lakeside and take your pick. If you’re not a fan of hats go for a fastinator, they’re still very in and Accesorize has all types and colours to suit your outfit. For more fashion advice or to take advantage of Lakeside’s new gift shopping service, just call 01708 869 933 or visit www.lakeside.uk.com for details.
